PODCAST WITH PROFESSIONALS
Subscribe this YouTube Channel. In making an attempt at doing podcast, every week, I wstrive to bring together professionals working in different countries and in different industries. The theme of the discussion will be the different aspect of data science toolkit that dominates different industries and academic research.
I let the professionals have their say on the specific toolkit, as such, is being used in their industry and in their research work. Doing so, we will get an idea of what skills and concepts that we should focus on, going forward during the lecture. Of course, with my own knowledge set that I have accumulated. The idea of doing this podcast is to ensure that the cases that are covered in the class is in line with what is demanded in the industry. At the end of the day, it is only the level of skills that one has acquired would be the sole determinant of how far one makes it in industry and research career, as such.
Michael Jacobs, working as a Robotics Engineer in Ocado Technology in London, provides as assessment of the data science the way the data science, in particular, the linear regression, is used and the
Michael points to the fact that applied linear regression is the most widely used technique in data sciences. There are, however, many sides to the linear regression which one needs to be cognizant of as one runs the models. There are many advantages of the linear models has over non-linear models.
In this podcast, Nitya Saxena gives her insight on the use of data science tools right from her first job to her current role in Business Intelligence Unit in EDMI Limited, Singapore.
Nitya points out three cases where she was exposed to the application of linear regression model.
1. Child Malnutrition Case
2. Business Sales Forecast Case
3. Health Insurance Case
This is a podcast, I recorded with Abhishek Singh, who walks us though the use of data science in robotics and the way the
In this podcast, Abhishek discusses the ensemble method which is one of the most popular in financail institutions. There are a total of 3 methods that are used in ensemble method. However, for the purpose of this discussion, the main theme of discussion was bagging method which is a highly used in predictive modelling. As we will see in Module 16 that overfitting of a model is very common and, therefore, there needs to be a way in big data to be able to face this challenge
I am creating a real case of
have a podcast lined up with Gurmeet Singh. He is well-published in the area of finance and his doctoral thesis, from IFMR Chennai, examined the way the stock market behaved.
One of the most popular application of linear regression technique is in the area of asset valuation. The most popular model that is used for valuation is capital asset pricing model. Here is a link for a paper that I did for a client in Hong Kong.
The two theme that will be the subject of this discussion will be
1. Use of linear regression model for valuation of financial instruments.
2. Use of Factor Models for Valuation of asset .
The discussion, in this really insightful podcast with Professor Amit Jain (AJ) Chauradia, revolves around the reseach work which Professor has been doing or is involved in.
The first half of the discussion revolved around some basic framework of human capital at the individual and macro level. The point that has also been covered is the way the human capital can work for India's advantage. In the second half, Professor links human capital with business and entrepreneurship and most of the examples and facts come from Professor's reseach work on this area

In this discussion, Professor Unnati Narang, talks about data science toolkit used in marketing research. She discusses one example of causality coming from her own research. Professor Narang's, given her extensive knowledge on the linkages between mobile app and the way it affects sales, discusses relevant empirical issues and problems that arise when retailers use mobile app. Link to Professor's Unnati Narang Page http://www.unnatinarang.com Link to 2 related Research Paper which was the subject of discussion https://pubsonline.informs.org/doi/10... https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.c...
